Architecture is a practice that defines the spaces of our daily routines. Places where we work, rest, learn and produce surrounds our everyday lives. There are times when certain spaces will get us out of our routines and urge us to look around. In this edited volume, we aimed to present an exciting array of contemporary architecture that provides us with distinct spatial experiences, and thus, gets us out of our routines. The sort of excitement in question is not a simple, or temporary one. It is an awakening that stays with us, raises questions and adds value to the lives we lead. While the buildings in this book happen here and now in the historic journey of architecture, they make modest proposals as to how we might sincerely relate to the old and the new; the material; the spatial organization, and the technology. In the company of Cemal Emden's photography, they leave us on our own with the question of why they might be exciting.
